Intro

When items we own tend to get old we check the expiration date. The expiration date lets us know what we we’re about to consume or have in our possession that’s about to expire.
Milk in your refrigerator has an expiration date
Bread has an expiration date
That baking soda in the back of your refrigerator or cabinet has an expiration date
Your credit card, your drivers license has an expiration date.
Even your money has an expiration date. According to the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve system, the lifespan of money varies depends on factors or circulation, how it has been used, its value. For example, we do not use the Kennedy 50 cents or $2 bill anymore. It has value but you don’t see banks, stores, or many business transactions or tips given in the $2. It has gotten hold, its time of use has expired.
Humans have expiration dates
We have expiration dates on people: We call it Cancel Culture - people who have acted or spoken in an inappropriate way -
“Kanye West for his “White Lives Matter, Will Smith, Tiffany Haddish, Jessie Smollett, Kyrie Irving, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, poor Hershel Walker
Even God has expiration date:
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to throw away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.”
Ecclesiastes 9:2-4
Everyone will die someday. Death comes to godly and sinful people alike. It comes to good and bad people alike. It comes to “clean” and “unclean” people alike. Those who offer sacrifices and those who don’t offer them also die.
A good person dies, and so does a sinner. Those who make promises die. So do those who are afraid to make them. Here’s what is so bad about everything that happens on this earth. Death catches up with all of us. Also, the hearts of people are full of evil. They live in foolish pleasure. After that, they join those who have already died.
Matthew 20:16 (NRSV)
So the last will be first, and the first will be last.”
But God, even though he’s the Alpha & Omega, the Beginning @ the End, like to see new things happen
that’s why he sent the Prophet Isaiah! To Tell Us Something New
New!!! I wanted to learn more about this word.
New, fresh, things that have not existed or have not been known or seen before. New refers to something recently made, grown, or built, or recently found, invented, or discovered:
Isa 6: 8 Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?”
I said, “Here I am. Send me.
The Book of Isaiah is a composite work of several prophets who prophesied and ministered at different periods in the history of Israel under Kings & Monarchs. Scholars distinguish this book in 3 parts: 1st Isaiah chap 1-39; 2nd Isaiah or Deutero-Isaiah chap 40-55 which the author is unknown so it pseudonymous (attributed to Isaiah because of his name); 3rd or Trito-Isaiah chap 56-66
People:
God, The Prophet, The Southern Kingdom (Judah)
Problem:
God punished the Israelites because they turned from him for 70yrs. God punished them by allowing them to go through Babylonian exile and next the Assyrians rise of terror. They were in an exilic period. They were forced to leave they’re homes & country all because they turned from God. God said in his commandments in Exo 20:3 “You shall have no other gods before me.”
Theme:
of this prophetic word in Isaiah to the people of Judah is consolation, reassurance, control. God will be an ever present help. God is in control. God controls history. Nothing is new to God. He’s is the author and finisher of our faith. God sits high & looks low. What God does is new to you & I, but never new to him. See, I am doing a new thing!
1: Embrace the new season!! Forget It!!!!
Isa18 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. 19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
God told the prophet to tell the Israelites Forget it!!! If I’m forgetting about what you’ve done; the past; what you use to do, then you should too.
If God isn’t holding you hostage to your past, why should you
“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.”- Albert Einstein
I know its hard to forget, but don’t allow your past to dictate your future. God didn’t!
Remember this is a promise from God!
If you want something new you have to Forget it!!!!
2: See God in Every Situation
18 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
Don’t miss this, whenever you hear, see, or feel God, that’s enough.
He told the prophet to tell them See, I!!! I know about you but when God shows up as a See I!! That’s all you need to hear.
See I!!! Am Jehovah Rapha - The God who heals and restore
See I!! Am reviving
See I!! Am returning
See I!! Am Jehovah Jireh - you’re a provider
See I!! Am Jehovah Tsidkenu - Righteousness
See I AM DOING A NEW THING!!!! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
God has, will, and still continues to be forever presence even in your new season!!!!
3: Exhort God!!!
20 The wild animals honor me, the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen, 21 the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.
Exhort, means to incite; to urge strongly, to initiate, to be intentional
The Psalmist wrote in Psalms 150 “Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty firmament! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his surpassing greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with clanging cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that breathes praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!”
“Let Everything that has breath praise the Lord”
“Praise the Lord in the highest”
Psalm 34:1-4 “I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.”
Isaiah 25:1 LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.
We use this verse to refer to New Seasons in our life, and that’s ok. But the meat behind this is that God is saying I’m going to bring you out again. A new Exodus. I had to remind you that your ancestors were brought out before from under Pharaoh. This time I’m bringing you out from under my hand of punishment and introducing you to a new season. I rather be a believer under Gods hand than a nonbeliever under anyone else rule because God’s grace and mercy is sufficient.
It’s a New Season! It's a New Day!
Fresh anointing is flowing my way It's a season of power and prosperity
It's a new season coming to me” It's a new season, it's a new day A fresh anointing is flowing my way
It's a season of power and prosperity
It's a new season coming to me
